Overgate Hospice are delighted to have been awarded Charity of the Year by the
Halifax Evening Courier Community and Environment awards 2009.
Overgate Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults in the Calderdale area. All patients have a life-limiting, advanced, progressive illness.
The Hospice building is located in Elland, near Halifax. It was opened in 1981. We have 12 specialist pallitive care beds in our inpatient unit and our care reaches out into the community through our Day Hospice provision and Specialist Advice Service.

Donate, Dont Waste
BBC’s Mary Portas – Mary Queen Of Shops
We would like to introduce a new initiative developed by the legendary ‘Mary Queen Of Shops’ designed for charity shops throughout the country. You may remember the series screened last year on BBC2, which featured Mary Portas revolutionising a charity shop in London to become a real contender for the high street. Since then she has been busy organising a campaign to get people like YOU to donate to their local charity shops, this campaign is called:
Donate, Don’t Waste.
Here at Overgate Hospice we have embraced this new campaign to encourage support towards our 9 charity shops in the area and we would like you to be involved. All you need to do is take your unwanted clothes, shoes and accesories to one of our shops for us to sell to raise money for Overgate Hospice.
