Sources of funding

As a charity we are dependant on donations, legacies and fundraising to pay for the care we give.  We received a grant from the Local Primary Care Trust, though this is typically less than a fifth of our running costs, which are more than £1.9million a year.  We are not funded by the NHS.

We have an active fundraising programme to generate the £1.5m needed each year to meet our costs.  Fundraising is a vital part of hospice life, as is the friendship and support of the community of Calderdale.  Overgate Hospice stands as a tribute to the commitment and generosity of the many people of Calderdale who provide continual and enthusiastic support to help us reach our financial targets.
