Overgate Hospice would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported them throughout the years, without your support we could not continue to provide care to people with life-limiting illnesses. Below are just some of the great fundraising you have been up to:

 

July 2010

Hipperpottery - Tea Rooms

A big thank you to Hipperpottery Homes for supporting Overgate Hospice, pop along to Hipperpottery Tea Rooms and make a donation to Overgate for a free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and even biscuits.

Italian Community

Overgate Hospice had a lovely visit from a group from the Italian Community whose group unfortunatley has disbanded. The money that was remaining in their 'kitty' they decided to donate to the Hospice which was gladly received from our nurses Karen and Margo.

A big thank you for their support!

Masonic Lodge

 

£601.55 was kindly raised at the Lodge of Probity No:61. Presented at the Hospice by Worshipful Brother Stephen Bray - charity steward (see photo), on behalf of Worshipful Brother Neil Austwick Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 2009.

Bryans Mountain Bike Challenge

Bryan took part in our Summer Mountain Bike Challenge and cycled 23 miles around some of Calderdale best tracks and bridleways. Not only did Bryan beat his finishing time from the previous year but he raised £164.50 for the Hospice.

Co-Op Hebden Bridge

A big thank you to the Co-Op, Hebden Bridge for choosing Overgate Hospice as their charity of the year for 2010/2011. We look forward to working with John, Anne and all the staff at the store and see what exciting fundraising events they are going to organise.

Hadrian's Wall walk

Julian Hadala walked the 85 miles along Hadrians Wall for Overgate and raised over £1000.

Girl Guides UK

4th Ratsrick Girl Guides celebrated thier centenary year by support Overgate Hospice, one of the ways they supported was by painting some lovely plant pots with their centenary colours. These pots will displayed proudly in the Hospice Garden to brighten up our lovely veranda. A big thank you to the guide leaders and all the guides for their gift and continued support.

Fundraising Evening

A group of friends organised a fundraising evening in memory of Marion O'Shea and have raised a fantastic figure of £7682.63 in aid of Overgate Hospice. The fundraising evening included auction lots, a raffle and even a silent auction. Over 300 tickets were sold and the group are amazed at how much they have raised. Laura Ramsden our Community Fundraiser went along to collect the cheque: "I am so pleased at how succesfull the event was, they are a great group of people and to be given a cheque for this amount is just wonderfull."

A big well done to everyone!

Quiz Night

Kathryn Rogan our Corporate Fundraiser was quiz master for the evening at The Winterburn Pub, Warley. Teams came along to answer questions on sport, music and the Hospice and their was even a picture round. The evening was a great night and £160 was raised for the Hospice. Well Done to Quiz Master Kathy, and thank to The Winterburn and everyone who took part.

Charity Football Match

Andy Heaton along with some friends organised a fantastic Charity Football Match in aid of Overgate Hospice. The sun was shining brightley and the community came along to support the two teams. This is the second time this match has taken place and with the support of the Rose and Crown Pub, Greetland the organisers are hoping to raise £2000. A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the day and to those that played in the match.

Reginald Maude's Wii Day

Reginald Maude Ltd, Electrical and Data Service providers based in Halifax held a Wii charity fundraiser in aid of Overgate Hospice. The company invited staff, customers and suppliers along with their families and friends to a day of Wii competitions.

Adults competed in Golf, Table Tennis and 10 Pin Bowling whilst the children competed in Mario Kart, Table Tennis and 10 Pin Bowling, with prizes for the winners and runners up of each section. Everyone had a great time and the event raised a wonderful £1000.00 for Overgate.

Almost everyone won something due to the fantastic support of several local businesses, who kindly donated prizes for the winners, runners up and for a raffle on the day. Halifax Hockey Club were extremely generous in providing their marvellous club facilities at Park Lane to host the fundraiser.

30-kilo Car Park Challenge

Overgate had 2 fantastic fundraisers visit them and present a cheque for £530 from an amazing event that they took part in, in memory of their friend. Richard Grattan a fittness instructor at Firtness First, Halifax took on a gruelling challenge after losing a bet with a custonmer at the gym, Nigel Bavidge. Richard carried two 15 kilo weights the length of the car park while completing more than 400 lunges. A collection was made at the gym to raise money for the Overgate Hospice. Richard and Nigel decided to support Overgate after their friend Lee Barker died at the Hospice. A big thank you to Richard, Nigel and all staff and customers at Firstness First, Halifax for raising such a fantastic amount. Well Done!

Duke of York

The Duke of York, Shelf organised a fundraising day with the help of Cynthia Briggs in memory of Graham Briggs. They all had a fantastic day with a raffle, auction and the guess the amount in the jar game with a prize for the winner. The fantastic fundraisers raised over £1000 for Overgate Hospice and are hoping the day becomes an annual event. Thank you to everyone at the Duke of York for supporting Overgate Hospice!

March 2010

Snookerthon

A charity event was run over 4 weeks by members of the Hill Crest Bowling Club which raised £2,000 for Overgate Hospice. The events included a sponsored Snookerthon, whereby eight members played snooker on a rota over a 24 hour period, if anyone not being sponsored to play wanted to have a game they had to make a donation. The event also included a raffle run by Carol Goulden and a brave John Farrell had his head shaved. There is also a large donation bottle permanently on the bar at the club, which was filled with coins on the run up to the night of the Snookerthon.

Special thanks goes to Sue Woolescroft and Janine Murphy for keeping the snooker players plied with coffee through the night and also for cooking the breakfast supplied by Grosvenor’s Butchers, Borough Market.

Bowling Evening

Mr Derek Cockroft each year produces a calendar and sells it throughout the community of Calderdale in aid of Overgate Hospice. This year Electric Bowl, Halifax very kindly sponsored the calendar and also invited a few members of staff from the Hospice to a night of bowling. So a big thank you to Mr Cockroft and to everyone at Electric Bowl.

Adult Education Centre

The Adult Education Centre raised £50.00 for Overgate Hospice following a home-made cake sale. Faye Henderson, Events Fundraiser went along to collect the cheque and say thank you.
