Social Work
Overgate Hospice offers palliative care social work which is a unique and specialist area of Social Work. Our social work team are experienced and qualified within specialist palliative care and are registered with the General Social Care Council, and members of the Association of Palliative Care Social Workers.
Our Social Workers are key members of the multi-disciplinary team at Overgate Hospice and contribute to the holistic approach to care. We offer a broad range of services to support and act as advocates for the whole family.

What the social team does
We offer a wide range of services which we hope will address some of the difficulties encountered by patients and carers where someone has been diagnosed with a life limiting illness.
We aim to provide emotional, practical, financial and social support for service users as well as their families and carers.
Our role is to assess care needs in partnership with service users, families and carers and providing advice and information to enable informed choices regarding the options available.
Support for Children
The social work team are available to offer advice, information and resources to help adults in supporting children where someone close to them has been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness or has died.
