BREATH OF FRESH AIR

A Breath of Fresh Air is a seven week course of advice, education and information for people with a Chronic Lung Condition and their carers, aiming to help them cope and learn strategies to manage their illness more effectively.


We can help with:
Assessing your individual goals
Planning your future care
Education about medication and psychological approaches
Enchancing your well-being
Talking and addressing anxiety
Support and education for carer
Advice on coping with fatigue 
Peer support

Our Breath of Fresh Air session take place on a Tuesday afternoon.

Can anyone come with me to Breath of Fresh Air?

Your carer will be invited to come with your so we can support you both

How will I get to Breath of Fresh Air?

The Overgate Day Hospice team will ask if you need transport when they telephone you to make an appointment to attend the course. If you are able to provide your own transport, eg a lift from a family member, then please do so. However, we do have volunteer drivers who can bring you to Day Hospice and take you home after the session if needed.

Is there any charge for Breath of Fresh Air?

All facilities at Overgate are provided free of charge but we rely on the generosity of people donating to help continue this specialist support. To find out more please visit our Get Involved section.

What staff will be at Breath of Fresh Air to help me?

There will be a Respiratory Physiotherapist and qualified nurses.

Who refers me to Breath of Fresh Air?

Your Respiratory Specialist Team will refer you to the course

Will there be oxygen if I need it?

We can arrange to have portable oxygen cylinders for you to use if you need oxygen.
