Evie's Story

Evie continues being a fantastic fundraiser

My name is Evie and I’m 14 years old. I started fundraising for Overgate 8 years ago on the first anniversary of my Great Granny Freda’s death. Instead of being sad, me and my mum wanted to do something fun to remember my Granny so I did a sponsored swim - I think I raised about £500 for Overgate.

Since then, I have done something different each year to celebrate my Granny’s life. I have done a Mini Tough Mudder, a triathlon, a few car washes and some other things. The most difficult challenge I have taken on was probably the sponsored silence I did when I was 7 years old. My Granny’s nicknames for me were ‘Motormouth’ and ‘Whirlwind’ so that will probably give you an idea of how difficult it was for me!

My mum helps me with my fundraisers and does lots of her own fundraising too, as do a lot of my family. We also volunteer regularly. Most recently we volunteered as marshals for the Midnight Walk, directing the walkers and giving them a bit of encouragement. It was a really lovely night.

Overgate is such a special place to me and I’m happy to help them however I can. Fingers crossed they will still be here another 40 years from now and I will still be supporting them then!
