Choir present milestone reaching cheque
The Overgate Hospice Choir are celebrating after reaching over £350,000 in total funds raised for the Hospice in Elland. At their recent Annual General Meeting they presented a cheque for £7,500.

The choir was founded in 1991 specifically to support the work of Overgate Hospice, who provide palliative and end-of-life care for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses in Calderdale.
The choir present four concerts of music annually, from choral works along with Christmas Carols, Hymns, Opera Choruses and Songs from the Shows.

Carol Armitage, Choir Chairperson said: “I am delighted that the choir has been able to give £7,500 to Overgate Hospice despite having had only one concert last year owing to Covid. We performed Rutter’s Requiem in October but had to cancel our popular Christmas Concert, however with the generosity of members of our choir and our audience we have been able to donate this fantastic amount and we’re grateful to everyone concerned.”

Nikki Scholey, Community Fundraiser at Overgate Hospice said: “We would like to thank each and every member of the choir for their continued support. They have supported the Hospice for over 30 years and we cannot thank them enough! We always look forward to hearing them sing.

The next choir concert, Messiah, will take place at Brighouse Central Methodist Church on Saturday 9th April at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased from wegottickets.com, the Hospice in Elland, Shoesmiths on Commercial Street or Harvey’s on Rawson Street in Halifax.
