We are pleased to announce the success of our 2019 Christmas Raffle with ticket sales raising almost £16,000.
This was through the dedicated efforts of local people, businesses and GP Practices in buying and selling tickets.
Three lucky winners received early Christmas presents of a £1000 grand prize, a fabulous alcohol hamper and a luxury food hamper, respectively.
The winner of the £1000, Phil Costello, generously donated half of his £1000 back to the Hospice. He said of this, “My dear wife Annabel was with Overgate in May 2016 and passed away on 3 June 2016. She was looked after in a wonderful way by the staff, as were myself and Annabel's family. I do try to support Overgate; I have numbers in the Lottery and make regular donations to the Overgate shops in West Vale and Elland. Though I never expected to win the raffle, I am delighted to have done so and making the donation was never in question”. Phil is an avid traveller, and will be using his £500 to see more exotic destinations around the world.
Claire Sullivan, Individual Giving Fundraiser said, “We couldn’t be happier with the result of this year’s Christmas Raffle. It’s amazing what happens when the local community comes together to achieve a goal and we’re all so proud of the efforts that were put in to help sell the tickets, not to mention the generosity shown by the winner, Phil, in giving half of his grand prize back to us, it was so unexpected and we are truly grateful. Roll on the Summer Raffle!”
