Street performance group Granny Turismo have been filmed while entertaining on the streets of Ashbourne at a recent festival and posted to TikTok by influencer Kyle Potter. The short video has received over 7 million views and generated funds for Kyle which he has kindly offered to donate to the charity of the Grannies’ choice.

Granny Turismo was created by Richard Taylor (Ric), Martin Taylor and Geoff Atwell in 2009. Ric’s wife Tess Hills also performs with the Grannies. Sadly Ric passed away earlier this year and was cared for in the final stages of his life here at Overgate Hospice. Since Ric’s passing, there have been an overwhelming number of donations made in his memory as a well-loved member of the street theatre community.

Ric’s wife Tess said; “Kyle tracked down Martin, from Granny Turismo, to tell him about the video and to say that the TikTok viewings were creating income which he'd like to donate to a charity of their choice. Martin wrote back and told him about Ric's illness and the care he’d received at Overgate, so donations to the hospice would be very much appreciated.”

Kyle has gone on to create a separate video to share this information with his following and to generate further donations in Ric’s memory.

The Grannies continue to honour Ric’s legacy through their comedy performances in the community and attract so much positive attention from the general public. They may be making appearances in the future at our events too as they continue to support the care provided by Overgate to those who need it every day.
