Day Hospice patients and staff were treated to a fantastic line dancing performance from the Bamford Belles and Beaus.

The lively group danced to country-tastic hits in the Day Hospice Lounge on Thursday 31st October.
Day Hospice patient, Marilyn Swann, said: “When I was younger, before my new hips, I used to line dance eight nights out of seven – you could not keep me off the dance floor! I loved it – the dancing, the music, the sense of community, it’s just brilliant fun. Watching the line dancers in Day Hospice was such a wonderful treat, it made me tearful. I wish I had brought my Stetson!

“Coming Day Hospice has been a real life-enhancer. It’s given me something to look forward to every week. Just before I left for today’s session, my palliative nurse knocked on the door and I was worried she would make me late! I didn’t want to miss a moment, so I asked her to check my morphine as quickly as possible!
“My cancer is in my pancreas, and I’ve had a lot of hospital procedures and appointments lately. I’ve recently had some stents fitted and the procedure was on a Thursday (which is when I come to Day Hospice). I was more upset about missing Day Hospice than the procedure itself!
“The team at Overgate are so loyal and caring towards their patients. I’m so happy to be a patient here.”
Amanda Hopkinson, Diversional Therapy Lead, said: “Thank you to the fabulous Bamford Belles and Beaus for entertaining our patients. It was a fun-filled afternoon! From Shania Twain to Dolly Parton, we were all singing along, and some patients even joined the line! Days like this are what make Overgate such a wonderful, joyful place.”
