With over 270 cyclists turning out early on the morning of Sunday 11th July the Overgate Mountain Bike challenge was a great success; all the cyclist battled the difficult and long route that took in some of Calderdale most beautiful scenery, tracks and bridle ways, without any complaints all with fantastic attitudes.

Sadly, due to Government Guidelines a mass start wasn’t allowed, instead the event was adapted and participants registered and set straight off on their adventure, on their return they were greeted back by our Nurses Julie Ogle and Sandra Bowles who served hot drinks and cans of beer and celebrated their success with each and every rider as they crossed the finish line.

Cyclist travelled from across the county to take on the 20 mile route in memory of their loved ones and to raise vital funds for us. The team would like to say thank you to everyone that came along to join us on the day, a fantastic £6,000 was raised.

Rachel Lumb, Fundraiser said “This event couldn’t take place without our wonderful volunteers and we are so pleased that so many cyclists took part, I hope to see everyone again next year and that the sponsor money keeps flooding in

The Mountain Bike Challenge is our longest running challenge and has raised over £60,000.The event was sponsored by Investing for Tomorrow and After Accident Care Team and very kindly supported by Rotary Club of Halifax Calder & Happy Days Cycles, Sowerby Bridge.
