With over 150 cyclists turning out early on the morning of Sunday 12th June the Overgate Mountain Bike Challenge was a great success! Participants took on either an 18 or 26 mile route, both of which took in some of the most beautiful scenery, tracks and bridle ways Calderdale has to offer.

On returning to the Hospice participants were greeted by members of our nursing team who volunteered their time to serve refreshments and celebrate the success of each and every rider as they crossed the finish line.

Cyclist travelled from across the county to take on the challenge in memory of their loved ones and to raise vital funds for the Hospice. The Overgate team would like to say thank you to everyone that came along to join us on the day, a fantastic £5,000 has been raised so far, with money still coming in.

Rachel Lumb, Senior Fundraiser said; ‘Seeing everyone set off from the Hospice to take on the challenge never fails to fill me with pride. I’d like to thank everyone that took part and express special thanks to those that volunteered their time to support the event. We couldn’t do it without you!

The Mountain Bike Challenge is the local charity’s longest running challenge and has raised over £60,000 for the Hospice. This years’ event was sponsored by Investing for Tomorrow and very kindly supported by the Rotary Club of Halifax Calder and Happy Days Cycles.
