The Piece Hall confirmed as new venue for Overgate Light Up A Life memorial service

Overgate Hospice invite the Calderdale community to join them at The Piece Hall on Wednesday 5th December from 6:30pm to come together and remember those who have added light to their life.

As we approach a very emotive and difficult time of year for many, Overgate Hospice would like to invite the local community to be part of something special. Light up a Life offers the opportunity to come together, remember loved ones and celebrate their amazing lives during a moving service.

Visitors will be welcomed by Overgate Chaplain Tina Turner outside in the main courtyard of the Piece Hall to sing carols, hear touching readings from Overgate’s Trustees and volunteers, and light candles in remembrance. The service will also be accompanied by the Overgate Choir.

The Light Up a Life appeal is always emotional, however many find that just knowing that a light is shining for their loved one gives them a lot of peace over the Christmas period, which is traditionally about family. It can also help for people to attend one of the services and talk about their loss with others in the community who are experiencing something similar.

Tribute Fundraiser Claire Howard said; ‘Light up a Life services are always such beautiful events; very emotional but comforting. We are very grateful that The Piece Hall have welcomed us to host a service this year and we hope that you can all join us at this stunning and iconic venue.’

For those who are unable to attend, there are three other services taking place, the first on Sunday 25th November at Halifax Minster, the next at Overgate Hospice on Sunday 2nd December and finally at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on Saturday 8th December.

All dedications received will appear in the Overgate Book of Memories which will be on display at each service.

Dedications can still be made by visiting http://lightup.overgatehospice.org.uk or calling 01422 387121.
