Spring Newsletter 2021: Richard's Story

Thursday 13 May 2021
Hi, I’m Richard and I’m the Managing Director of Falconer Print & Packaging, a local company based in Elland. The business has been supporting Overgate through their corporate membership scheme since 2012, however in the last twelve months we have increased our support and have donated to their Emergency Corporate Appeal.

At the beginning of lockdown, many of our team were struggling to get their hair cut and we decided to answer the Hospice’s plea for Haircut Heroes, with 16 of our team, including some family members, shaving their heads and raising over £2,000.

However, as lockdown continued, and Overgate’s charity shops remained closed and their events cancelled, we saw the impact this was having and wanted to do more. The Hospice had recently launched their Corporate Emergency Appeal, asking local companies to make a significant donation to support the Hospice through this incredibly difficult time and we decided to get involved. We pledged to give a monthly donation of £2,000 for the next twelve months to ensure that the Hospice could continue to care for our community. By doing this, we joined an incredible group of like-minded businesses who are passionate about the care the hospice provides to our staff, their families, and others in our area.

It has been a pleasure working with the Hospice team; their enthusiasm, care and commitment show that it’s not just a job to them. We are honoured to play a part, however small, in helping provide the kind, professional and compassionate care they give to patients and their loved ones during difficult and harrowing times, ensuring the best quality of life for these people. I encourage anyone who is able to help to do so and join Falconer Print & Packaging as part of the Overgate family.
