It's Dying Matters Week!
Dying Matters is an important time in the year where we open up the conversation around end of life and dying; what to think about and plan, how to talk to loved ones, how your actions now can help your loved ones later. These are incredibly important things to consider, but are also last on the list for many of us.
But why do we want everyone to think about death, dying and loss? Well, it’s something we all have in common, in talking about it we build confidence in supporting others going through these difficult stages in life, and by talking about death it highlights what’s important in life.
ITINERARY
Monday 6th May 9am-all week
Stall at Halifax Library. This stall will be there all week, come say hi and grab a leaflet or two!
Stall at Calderdale Royal Hospital. This stall will also be there all week!
Tuesday 7th May 10.30am – 12pm ‘Love, Loss and Life.’
Paul Williams, joins us virtually, to share his own poetry, written as he travelled his personal journey of grief.
Meeting to be held in the Day Hospice at Overgate Hospice, hosted by Chaplain Andy Thewlis.
Parking available at the Hospice or across the road at Elland Cricket Club.
Wednesday 8th May 10.00 – 11.30am ‘Bereavement Café
An opportunity to come together to share experiences and receive support following the death of a loved one, including a presentation on Models of Bereavement: understanding the grief journey.
Hosted by Overgate Chaplain Andy Thewlis and Psychotherapy & Counselling Lead Jet Hardinge
Meeting to be held in the Day Hospice at Overgate Hospice.
Parking available at the Hospice or across the road at Elland Cricket Club.
Thurs 9th May 11.00am – 12pm ‘My Terminal Healing’
A discussion, incorporating poems written by Steve Anderson, read by his widow Joanna.

The Overgate Garden Party! We will have a dedicated Dying Matters stall at the Garden Party and we would love to see you there! The stall will be interactive with games, information and general questions to get you thinking.
