What Happens Next is a support group for people who have recently experienced the death of the loved one who previously received Overgate’s care.

Emotional, psychological, and spiritual support is offered by trained professionals and volunteers, and vital peer support is offered from other members of the group sharing similar experiences.
The sessions are relaxed and informative and provide an opportunity to talk about your feelings and practical issues surrounding coming to terms with the loss of your loved one.

Sessions are held in the Day Hospice lounge every 4th Tuesday of the month 6pm-8pm.
If you would like to join the next session or find out more, email andy.thewlis@overgatehospice.nhs.uk or call us on 01422 379151.

“Losing Mario is the hardest experience in my life and l couldn’t have got this far without the Hospice counselling service and support groups. Now, two years on, I feel ready to support the Overgate Hospice and others in the community who are on their own bereavement journey. I volunteer at What Happens Next and Time to Talk. I had my first session recently, and while it was difficult as I am still grieving Mario myself, I was able to share with them that, “I lost my husband 21 months ago and I am still here”. Hopefully my journey will give others hope, which is one of the most powerful things when you are imagining a future without the person who means so much”.
