Two Calderdale Businesses “Leap” into Action to Fund this year’s Extra Day of Care

The 29^th February brought with it an extra day of care for us to provide for our patients, with extra funds to raise to pay for it. Two local companies joined forces to bid their support this leap year to help.
Specialist care services at Overgate Hospice are provided free of charge to patients every day of the year with the cost of providing that care now reaching a staggering £16,200 per day. At our annual Sporting Dinner, which was held in January, our team offered an auction item to fund the care at Overgate Hospice for this year’s leap day.

Falconer Print & Packaging Ltd renowned as an innovator in carton engineering based in Elland and Arkoni who are specialist in the design, manufacture and installation of steel fire rated glazing solutions based in Brighouse each pledged £9,000 to pay for this extra special gift. Thanks to their generosity, we have been able to provide the extra 24 hours of care for those who need it most at no extra cost.

Suzanne Benn, Business Partnerships Manager, Overgate Hospice said “The extra day this year provided a once in a four-year opportunity to make an impact in hospice care and once again our local businesses didn’t disappoint. With their incredible support, leap day is an extra day that we filled with compassionate care”.
