On a breezy Sunday morning 47 riders set out on Overgate Hospices very first Tour de Calderdale cycle sportive event. Taking on the fierce climbs of Cote de Shibden, Cote de Cragg Vale and Cote de Ripponden Bank all riders finished the 50 mile circular route that started and finished at the hospice. Liam Johnstone Jnr, who travelled from London to support the event, said “I really enjoyed the whole day; it is a challenging route but was a perfect start to the cycling season, and for such an amazing cause.”

Sponsored by and supported on the day by After Accident Care Team based in Sowerby Bridge this early season ride challenged all participants, who were thankful for a hot drink and piece of cake when they returned to the hospice!

Neil Sheard, Lottery and Challenges Fundraiser said; ‘We are so grateful to all who joined us and took on the challenge in support of the Hospice. The event was a great success which would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and all who volunteered on the day.’

Sponsorship is still coming in but the event has already raised £2,000 for the Hospice.
