In August 2022, Overgate Hospice was awarded a prestigious accreditation, the Quality Hallmark Award from the Gold Standards Framework (GSF). This honour was then acknowledged by the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Virginia Lloyd, when she visited the Hospice on the 2
nd February 2023 to celebrate the Hospice’s achievement.
The Gold Standards Framework was founded by Professor Keri Thomas OBE, who incidentally once worked at Overgate herself. The aim of the GSF is to enable and showcase the provision of ‘gold standard’ care for all people nearing the end of life. For the Hospice, it is an acknowledgment of the incredible care we give to the people of Calderdale, and of our role in leading the way in end of life care in the community and beyond.
Marie Sullivan, Deputy Director of Clinical Services, led the project of acquiring the Gold Standard’s Framework accreditation. Here’s what she had to say about our achievement, “It is a great honour and incredibly proud moment for the Hospice to have been awarded GSF accreditation. It is an acknowledgement of our hard work and dedication to providing excellent care in all that we do, and hopefully gives our patients, their families and our community confidence to access our services knowing they are in safe hands. It feels particularly poignant that the founder of the GSF used to work for Overgate Hospice; it shows that our Hospice has always been a centre of excellence for end of life care, and we are very proud to have this recognised by one of our own”.
2022 was an incredible year for the Hospice in terms of showcasing the exemplary work we do for the community, having been awarded the Quality 4 Health + Wellbeing Level 2 accreditation in the May of that year. As with the Gold Standards Framework, this award acknowledges the high standard of care at Overgate, and our role within the voluntary sector in Calderdale. Quality 4 Health + Wellbeing has rapidly been recognised as an industry standard accreditation for those providing health and wellbeing services.
